महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-36, verse-51

ततः कुञ्जान्बहून्कृत्वा संनिवृत्ता सरिद्वरा ।
ऋषीणां पुण्यतपसां कारुण्याज्जनमेजय ॥५१॥
51. tataḥ kuñjānbahūnkṛtvā saṁnivṛttā saridvarā ,
ṛṣīṇāṁ puṇyatapasāṁ kāruṇyājjanamejaya.

ṛṣīṇām puṇyatapasām kāruṇyāt janamejaya
51. janamejaya tataḥ saridvarā bahūn kuñjān
kṛtvā puṇyatapasām ṛṣīṇām kāruṇyāt saṃnivṛttā
51. Then, O Janamejaya, the best of rivers, having created many groves, turned back out of compassion for the sages whose austerities (tapas) were meritorious.
