महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-36, verse-16

उत्पाता दारुणाश्चैव शुभाश्च जनमेजय ।
सरस्वत्याः शुभे तीर्थे विहिता वै महात्मना ।
तस्य नाम्ना च तत्तीर्थं गर्गस्रोत इति स्मृतम् ॥१६॥

16. O Janamejaya, both dreadful and auspicious portents were indeed established by the great soul (Mahātmā) in the auspicious sacred place on the Sarasvati River. And that sacred place is known by his name as Gargastrota.
