महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-22, verse-24

संजय उवाच ।
अतिक्रान्तं हि यत्कार्यं पश्चाच्चिन्तयतीति च ।
तच्चास्य न भवेत्कार्यं चिन्तया च विनश्यति ॥२४॥
24. saṁjaya uvāca ,
atikrāntaṁ hi yatkāryaṁ paścāccintayatīti ca ,
taccāsya na bhavetkāryaṁ cintayā ca vinaśyati.
24. sañjayaḥ uvāca | atikrāntam hi yat kāryam paścāt cintayati
iti ca | tat ca asya na bhavet kāryam cintayā ca vinaśyati
24. sañjayaḥ uvāca yat atikrāntam kāryam hi paścāt iti ca cintayati,
tat ca asya kāryam na bhavet,
cintayā ca vinaśyati
24. Sañjaya said: Indeed, any action that has already transpired, and which one subsequently ponders over, will not bear fruit for that person; moreover, it is destroyed by such contemplation.
