महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-26, verse-53

कुल्यायां समुपस्पृश्य जप्त्वा चैवाघमर्षणम् ।
अश्वमेधमवाप्नोति त्रिरात्रोपोषितः शुचिः ॥५३॥
53. kulyāyāṁ samupaspṛśya japtvā caivāghamarṣaṇam ,
aśvamedhamavāpnoti trirātropoṣitaḥ śuciḥ.
53. kulyāyām samupaspṛśya japtvā ca eva aghamarṣaṇam
aśvamedham avāpnoti trirātropoṣitaḥ śuciḥ
53. A pure person, having fasted for three nights, who performs thorough ritual ablutions in a small canal and indeed recites the Aghamarṣaṇa hymn, attains the merit of an aśvamedha (Vedic ritual).
