महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-26, verse-33

गङ्गाह्रद उपस्पृश्य तथा चैवोत्पलावने ।
अश्वमेधमवाप्नोति तत्र मासं कृतोदकः ॥३३॥
33. gaṅgāhrada upaspṛśya tathā caivotpalāvane ,
aśvamedhamavāpnoti tatra māsaṁ kṛtodakaḥ.

aśvamedham avāpnoti tatra māsam kṛtodakaḥ
33. Having performed ritual ablutions at the Ganga pool and similarly at the lotus-filled pond, a person who has offered water libations there obtains the benefit of the (aśvamedha) Vedic ritual for a month.
