महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-101, verse-58

इतो दत्तेन जीवन्ति देवताः पितरस्तथा ।
ते प्रीताः प्रीणयन्त्येतानायुषा यशसा धनैः ॥५८॥
58. ito dattena jīvanti devatāḥ pitarastathā ,
te prītāḥ prīṇayantyetānāyuṣā yaśasā dhanaiḥ.

prītāḥ prīṇayanti etān āyuṣā yaśasā dhanaiḥ
58. devatāḥ tathā pitaraḥ itaḥ dattena jīvanti te

58. From the offerings given here, the deities and ancestors (pitaraḥ) subsist. Being pleased, they, in turn, gladden these (householders) with longevity, fame, and wealth.
