महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-101, verse-4

कुलशीलगुणोपेतः स्वाध्याये च परं गतः ।
बहून्स्ववंशप्रभवान्समतीतः स्वकैर्गुणैः ॥४॥
4. kulaśīlaguṇopetaḥ svādhyāye ca paraṁ gataḥ ,
bahūnsvavaṁśaprabhavānsamatītaḥ svakairguṇaiḥ.

bahūn svavaṃśaprabhavān samatītaḥ svakaiḥ guṇaiḥ |
4. kulaśīlaguṇopetaḥ ca svādhyāye param gataḥ
svakaiḥ guṇaiḥ bahūn svavaṃśaprabhavān samatītaḥ
4. He was endowed with good lineage, excellent character, and virtues, and he had attained the highest degree in self-study (svādhyāya). He surpassed many born in his own family lineage by his inherent qualities.
