योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-2, chapter-18, verse-63

अकारणे कारणता यद्बोधायोपमीयते ।
न तत्र सर्वसाधर्म्यं संभवत्युपमाश्रमैः ॥ ६३ ॥
akāraṇe kāraṇatā yadbodhāyopamīyate ,
na tatra sarvasādharmyaṃ saṃbhavatyupamāśramaiḥ 63
63. akāraṇe kāraṇatā yat bodhāya upamīyate na
tatra sarvasādharmyam saṃbhavati upamāśramaiḥ
63. yat akāraṇe kāraṇatā bodhāya upamīyate tatra
upamāśramaiḥ sarvasādharmyam na saṃbhavati
63. When the characteristic of being a cause is attributed to something that is not a cause for the sake of understanding, then complete similarity (sarvasādharmyam) is not possible for those who rely on such comparisons (upamā).
