बृहत्-पाराशर-होरा-शास्त्रम्       bṛhat-pārāśara-horā-śāstram - chapter-3, verse-6

राशीनामुदयो लग्नं तद्वशादेव जन्मिनाम् ।
ग्रहयोग्वियोगाभ्यां फलं चिन्त्यं शुभाशुभम् ॥६॥
6. rāśīnāmudayo lagnaṃ tadvaśādeva janminām .
grahayogviyogābhyāṃ phalaṃ cintyaṃ śubhāśubham.
6. rāśīnām udayaḥ lagnaṃ tadvaśāt eva janminām
grahayogaviyogābhyām phalam cintyam śubhāśubham
6. The rising of the zodiacal signs (rāśi) is the Ascendant (Lagna). Based solely on this, the results (phala), both auspicious and inauspicious, for living beings are to be considered through the conjunctions (yoga) and disjunctions (viyoga) of planets (graha).
