नश्यतो युध्यतो वापि तावद्भवति जीवितम् ।
यावद्धातासृजत् पूर्वं न यावन्मनसेप्सितम् ॥४९॥

49. naśyato yudhyato vāpi tāvadbhavati jīvitam .

naśyataḥ yudhyataḥ vā api tāvat bhavati jīvitam
yāvat dhātā asṛjat pūrvam na yāvat manasā īpsitam

Whether one is perishing or fighting, life (jīvitam) lasts only as long as the Creator (Dhātṛ) previously destined it, and not as long as it is desired by the mind.
