मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
अरिष्टनेमिपुत्रोऽभूद् गरुडो नाम पक्षिराट् ।
गरुडस्याभवत् पुत्रः सम्पातिरिति विश्रुतः ॥१॥

Mārkaṇḍeya said: The son of Ariṣṭanemi was Garuḍa, the king of birds. Garuḍa had a son who was renowned as Sampāti.
