मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-2, verse-26

वक्त्रपादतलैर्भङ्क्त्वा चक्रे क्षोभमथातुलम् ।
तस्मिन् भग्ने ततः खड्गे बाहुयुद्धमवर्तत ॥२६॥
26. vaktrapādatalairbhaṅktvā cakre kṣobhamathātulam .
tasmin bhagne tataḥ khaḍge bāhuyuddhamavartata.

26. Having broken it with his beak and talons, he then wrought unparalleled destruction. After that sword was broken, then hand-to-hand combat ensued.
