मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-2, verse-25

पतगेन्द्रश्च तं खड्गङ्किञ्चिदुत्प्लुत्य भूतलात् ।
वक्त्रेण जग्राह तदा गरुडः पन्नगं यथा ॥२५॥
25. patagendraśca taṃ khaḍgaṅkiñcidutplutya bhūtalāt .
vaktreṇa jagrāha tadā garuḍaḥ pannagaṃ yathā.
25. patagendraḥ ca tam khaḍgam kiñcit utplutya bhūtalāt
vaktreṇa jagrāha tadā garuḍaḥ pannagam yathā
25. And the king of birds (Jaṭāyu), leaping up slightly from the ground, then seized that sword with his beak, just as Garuḍa (the divine eagle) seizes a serpent.
