मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-2, verse-24

ततः स राक्षसः क्रोधात् खड्गमाविध्य वेगवत् ।
चिक्षेप पतगेन्द्राय निर्वाणाङ्गारवर्चसम् ॥२४॥
24. tataḥ sa rākṣasaḥ krodhāt khaḍgamāvidhya vegavat .

24. Then that demon, in a fit of anger (krodha), swiftly whirled his sword and threw it at the king of birds. The sword glowed like a dying ember.
