योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-4, chapter-33, verse-60

अनया दुरहंकृत्या दामव्यालकटाः किल ।
तां दशां समनुप्राप्ता या कथास्वपि खेददा ॥ ६० ॥
anayā durahaṃkṛtyā dāmavyālakaṭāḥ kila ,
tāṃ daśāṃ samanuprāptā yā kathāsvapi khedadā 60
60. anayā dur-ahaṅkṛtyā dāma-vyāla-kaṭāḥ kila tām
daśām samanuprāptāḥ yā kathāsu api kheda-dā
60. kila anayā dur-ahaṅkṛtyā dāma-vyāla-kaṭāḥ tām daśām samanuprāptāḥ,
yā kathāsu api kheda-dā
60. Indeed, due to this false ego (ahaṅkṛti), Dāma, Vyāla, and Kaṭa reached such a deplorable state that it brings sadness even when recounted in stories.
