योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-4, chapter-33, verse-32

असन्नयमहंकारः स्वयं मिथ्या प्रकल्पितः ।
दुःखायैव न हर्षाय बालसंभ्रमयक्षवत् ॥ ३२ ॥
asannayamahaṃkāraḥ svayaṃ mithyā prakalpitaḥ ,
duḥkhāyaiva na harṣāya bālasaṃbhramayakṣavat 32
32. asan ayam ahaṅkāraḥ svayam mithyā prakalpitaḥ
duḥkhāya eva na harṣāya bālasaṃbhramayakṣavat
32. ayam asan ahaṅkāraḥ svayam mithyā prakalpitaḥ (san),
bālasaṃbhramayakṣavat duḥkhāya eva (bhavati) na harṣāya.
32. This ego (ahaṅkāra), which is inherently non-existent and falsely imagined on its own, leads only to sorrow, never to joy, much like a yakṣa conjured by a child's confused fancy.
