महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-169, verse-34

न चैव मूर्ख धर्मेण केवलेनैव शक्यते ।
तेषामपि ह्यधर्मेण चेष्टितं शृणु यादृशम् ॥३४॥
34. na caiva mūrkha dharmeṇa kevalenaiva śakyate ,
teṣāmapi hyadharmeṇa ceṣṭitaṁ śṛṇu yādṛśam.
34. na ca eva mūrkha dharmeṇa kevalena eva śakyate
teṣām api hi adharmeṇa ceṣṭitam śṛṇu yādṛśam
34. mūrkha na ca eva kevalena dharmeṇa eva śakyate (kāryam kartum)
hi teṣām api adharmeṇa yādṛśam ceṣṭitam (āsīt tat) śṛṇu
34. O fool, it is certainly not possible to act solely by one's intrinsic nature (dharma). Indeed, listen to the sort of actions they also performed through unrighteousness (adharma).
