महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-10, chapter-9, verse-28

यां गतिं क्षत्रियस्याहुः प्रशस्तां परमर्षयः ।
हतस्याभिमुखस्याजौ प्राप्तस्त्वमसि तां गतिम् ॥२८॥
28. yāṁ gatiṁ kṣatriyasyāhuḥ praśastāṁ paramarṣayaḥ ,
hatasyābhimukhasyājau prāptastvamasi tāṁ gatim.
28. yām gatim kṣatriyasya āhuḥ praśastām parama-ṛṣayaḥ
hatasya abhimukhasya ājau prāptaḥ tvam asi tām gatim
28. parama-ṛṣayaḥ yām praśastām gatim kṣatriyasya āhuḥ
ājau abhimukhasya hatasya tām gatim tvam prāptaḥ asi
28. The great sages declare that the most commendable destiny (gati) for a warrior (kṣatriya) is to be slain while facing the enemy in battle. You have indeed attained that very destiny (gati).
