मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-74, verse-8

ततस्तपस्यतस्तस्य प्रावृट्काले महाप्लवः ।
बभूवानुदिनं मेघैर्वर्षद्भिरनुसन्ततम् ॥८॥
8. tatastapasyatastasya prāvṛṭkāle mahāplavaḥ .
babhūvānudinaṃ meghairvarṣadbhiranusantatam.

babhūva anudinaṃ meghaiḥ varṣadbhiḥ anusantatam
8. Then, while he was engaged in his austerity (tapas), a great flood occurred during the rainy season, as clouds incessantly rained day after day.
