मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-74, verse-55

जित्वा समस्तां पृथिवीं तामसाख्यः स पार्थिवः ।
तामसाख्यो मनुरभुत्तस्य मन्वन्तरं शृणु ॥५५॥
55. jitvā samastāṃ pṛthivīṃ tāmasākhyaḥ sa pārthivaḥ .
tāmasākhyo manurabhuttasya manvantaraṃ śṛṇu.
55. jitvā samastām pṛthivīm tāmasa ākhyaḥ saḥ pārthivaḥ
tāmasa ākhyaḥ manuḥ abhūt tasya manvantaram śṛṇu
55. That king named Tamasa, having conquered the entire earth, became Manu (Manu) named Tamasa. Now listen to the account of his Manvantara.
