मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-57, verse-8

पूर्वे किराता यस्यान्ते पश्चिमे यवनास्तथा ।
ब्राह्मणाः क्षत्रिया वैश्याः शूद्राश्चान्तः स्थिता द्विज ॥८॥
8. pūrve kirātā yasyānte paścime yavanāstathā .
brāhmaṇāḥ kṣatriyā vaiśyāḥ śūdrāścāntaḥ sthitā dvija.
8. pūrve kirātāḥ yasya ante paścime yavanāḥ tathā |
brāhmaṇāḥ kṣatriyāḥ vaiśyāḥ śūdrāḥ ca antaḥsthitāḥ dvija
8. O twice-born (dvija), at its eastern end are the Kirātas, and likewise, in the west are the Yavanas. Brāhmaṇas, Kṣatriyas, Vaiśyas, and Śūdras are situated within (this division).
