मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-49, verse-35

मरुधन्वषु दुर्गेषु पर्वतेषु दरीषु च ।
संश्रयन्ति च दुर्गाणि वार्क्षं पार्वतमौदकम् ॥३५॥
35. marudhanvaṣu durgeṣu parvateṣu darīṣu ca .
saṃśrayanti ca durgāṇi vārkṣaṃ pārvatamaudakam.

saṃśrayanti ca durgāṇi vārkṣaṃ pārvatam audakam
35. They also took refuge in deserts, fortresses, mountains, and caves. And they resorted to various kinds of difficult-to-access places (durgāṇi), such as those made of trees, those in mountains, and those related to water.
