महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-166, verse-29

कर्मणा येन तेनेह मृदुना दारुणेन वा ।
पाञ्चालानां वधं कृत्वा शान्तिं लब्धास्मि कौरव ॥२९॥
29. karmaṇā yena teneha mṛdunā dāruṇena vā ,
pāñcālānāṁ vadhaṁ kṛtvā śāntiṁ labdhāsmi kaurava.
29. karmaṇā yena tena iha mṛdunā dāruṇena vā |
pāñcālānām vadham kṛtvā śāntim labdhā asmi kaurava
29. kaurava iha yena mṛdunā vā dāruṇena tena karmaṇā
pāñcālānām vadham kṛtvā aham śāntim labdhā asmi
29. O Kaurava, by whatever action (karma), whether gentle or cruel, I will have obtained peace (śānti) here after having accomplished the destruction of the Pāñcālas.
