महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-58, verse-1

धृतराष्ट्र उवाच ।
दैवमेव परं मन्ये पौरुषादपि संजय ।
यत्सैन्यं मम पुत्रस्य पाण्डुसैन्येन वध्यते ॥१॥
1. dhṛtarāṣṭra uvāca ,
daivameva paraṁ manye pauruṣādapi saṁjaya ,
yatsainyaṁ mama putrasya pāṇḍusainyena vadhyate.
1. dhṛtarāṣṭraḥ uvāca | daivam eva param manye pauruṣāt api
sañjaya | yat sainyam mama putrasya pāṇḍu-sainyena vadhyate
1. dhṛtarāṣṭraḥ uvāca sañjaya,
yat mama putrasya sainyam pāṇḍu-sainyena vadhyate,
(tasmāt) pauruṣāt api daivam eva param manye.
1. Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: Sañjaya, I consider fate (daiva) alone to be supreme, even above human effort (puruṣakāra), because my son's army is being killed by the Pāṇḍavas' army.
