मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-31, verse-54

सतिलेन ततोऽन्नेन पिण्डान् सव्येन पुत्रक ।
पितनुद्दिश्य दर्भेषु दद्यादुच्छिष्टसन्निधौ ॥५४॥
54. satilena tato'nnena piṇḍān savyena putraka .
pitanuddiśya darbheṣu dadyāducchiṣṭasannidhau.

pitṝn uddiśya darbheṣu dadyāt ucchiṣṭasannidhau
54. Then, O son, one should offer sacrificial cakes (piṇḍa) of food mixed with sesame seeds to the ancestors (pitṛ), placing them on the darbha grass near the remnants of the meal, using the left hand.
