मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-31, verse-3

पिता पितामहश्चैव तथैव प्रपितामहः ।
पिण्डसम्बन्धिनो ह्येते विज्ञेयाः पुरुषास्त्रयः ॥३॥
3. pitā pitāmahaścaiva tathaiva prapitāmahaḥ .
piṇḍasambandhino hyete vijñeyāḥ puruṣāstrayaḥ.
3. pitā pitāmahaḥ ca eva tathā eva prapitāmahaḥ
piṇḍasambandhinaḥ hi ete vijñeyāḥ puruṣāḥ trayaḥ
3. The father, the grandfather, and similarly the great-grandfather—these three persons are indeed to be understood as being connected through the ancestral offering (piṇḍa).
