dvairathaṁ cāpi pārthena kāmayāno mahāraṇe.

Then, O great king, the enraged Karna drew his bow named Vijaya. Repeatedly looking at Arjuna in battle, he desired single combat (dvairatham) with Pṛthā's son (Arjuna) in that great war.
