महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-42, verse-10

तदपास्य धनुश्छिन्नं धृष्टद्युम्नो महारथः ।
अन्यद्धनुरुपादाय शरांश्चाशीविषोपमान् ।
कर्णं विव्याध सप्तत्या शरैः संनतपर्वभिः ॥१०॥
10. tadapāsya dhanuśchinnaṁ dhṛṣṭadyumno mahārathaḥ ,
anyaddhanurupādāya śarāṁścāśīviṣopamān ,
karṇaṁ vivyādha saptatyā śaraiḥ saṁnataparvabhiḥ.
10. tat apāsya dhanuḥ chinnam dhṛṣṭadyumnaḥ
mahārathaḥ anyat dhanuḥ upādāya
śarān ca āśīviṣopamān karṇam vivyādha
saptatyā śaraiḥ saṃnataparvabhiḥ
10. mahārathaḥ dhṛṣṭadyumnaḥ chinnam tat
dhanuḥ apāsya anyat dhanuḥ ca
āśīviṣopamān śarān upādāya saṃnataparvabhiḥ
saptatyā śaraiḥ karṇam vivyādha
10. The great warrior Dhṛṣṭadyumna, having cast aside that broken bow, then took up another bow and arrows resembling venomous snakes, and pierced Karna with seventy arrows having well-bent shafts.
