महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-274, verse-53

अब्जानां पित्तभेदश्च सर्वेषामिति नः श्रुतम् ।
शुकानामपि सर्वेषां हिक्किका प्रोच्यते ज्वरः ॥५३॥
53. abjānāṁ pittabhedaśca sarveṣāmiti naḥ śrutam ,
śukānāmapi sarveṣāṁ hikkikā procyate jvaraḥ.
53. abjānām pittabhedaḥ ca sarveṣām iti naḥ śrutam
| śukānām api sarveṣām hikkikā procyate jvaraḥ
53. abjānām pittabhedaḥ ca sarveṣām iti naḥ śrutam.
api sarveṣām śukānām hikkikā jvaraḥ procyate
53. For aquatic creatures (abja), a disturbance of bile (pittabheda) is considered an affliction; this is what we have heard for all (these creatures). And for all parrots (śuka) too, hiccups (hikkikā) are declared to be 'fever' (jvara).
