महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-274, verse-34

ततः स यज्ञो नृपते वध्यमानः समन्ततः ।
आस्थाय मृगरूपं वै खमेवाभ्यपतत्तदा ॥३४॥
34. tataḥ sa yajño nṛpate vadhyamānaḥ samantataḥ ,
āsthāya mṛgarūpaṁ vai khamevābhyapatattadā.

| āsthāya mṛgarūpaṃ vai khaṃ eva abhyapatat tadā
34. nṛpate tataḥ saḥ yajñaḥ samantataḥ vadhyamānaḥ
mṛgarūpaṃ vai āsthāya tadā khaṃ eva abhyapatat
34. O king, at that time, that Vedic ritual (yajña), being assaulted from all sides, indeed assumed the form of a deer and fled into the sky.
