महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-274, verse-40

तं यज्ञं स महासत्त्वोऽदहत्कक्षमिवानलः ।
देवाश्चाप्यद्रवन्सर्वे ततो भीता दिशो दश ॥४०॥

40. taṁ yajñaṁ sa mahāsattvo'dahatkakṣamivānalaḥ ,
devāścāpyadravansarve tato bhītā diśo daśa.

devāḥ ca api adravan sarve tataḥ bhītāḥ diśaḥ daśa

40. saḥ mahāsattvaḥ tam yajñam analaḥ kakṣam iva adahat
ca sarve devāḥ tataḥ bhītāḥ daśa diśaḥ api adravan

40. That mighty being (mahāsattva) burned that Vedic ritual (yajña) just as fire consumes dry grass. And all the gods, frightened by him, fled in the ten directions.
