योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-7, chapter-43, verse-53

बीजं शाखाफलानीव क्वातोऽर्थमनसी वद ।
ज्ञेयासंभवतो ज्ञप्तिरप्यनाख्यं पदं गता ॥ ५३ ॥
bījaṃ śākhāphalānīva kvāto'rthamanasī vada ,
jñeyāsaṃbhavato jñaptirapyanākhyaṃ padaṃ gatā 53
53. bījam śākhāphalāni iva kva ataḥ arthamanasī vada |
jñeya asaṃbhavataḥ jñaptiḥ api anākhyam padam gatā ||
53. bījam śākhāphalāni iva,
ataḥ arthamanasī kva vada ? jñeya asaṃbhavataḥ,
jñaptiḥ api anākhyam padam gatā
53. Just as branches and fruits [arise] from a seed, tell me, from where do the object (artha) and mind (manas) [arise]? Due to the impossibility of the knowable (jñeya), perception (jñapti) itself also attains a nameless state.
