Due to incorrect perception (asamyak-prekṣaṇa) and delusion (moha), the mind (cetas) assumes a real existence for itself. This delusion, a tiny seed of confusion, is perceived as darkness (tamas), just as a dark speck might appear to be within the sun itself.
