योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-3, chapter-96, verse-38

मध्ये सदसतो रूपं प्रतिभूतं यदाविलम् ।
जगतः कारणं नाम तदेतच्चित्तमुच्यते ॥ ३८ ॥
madhye sadasato rūpaṃ pratibhūtaṃ yadāvilam ,
jagataḥ kāraṇaṃ nāma tadetaccittamucyate 38
38. madhye sat-asato rūpam pratibhūtam yadā ā-vilam
jagataḥ kāraṇam nāma tat etat cittam ucyate
38. yadā sat-asato madhye ā-vilam pratibhūtam rūpam
tat etat jagataḥ kāraṇam nāma cittam ucyate
38. When its form, which is manifested and obscured (āvila), exists between being and non-being, that very thing is called the mind (citta), which is the cause of the world (jagat).
