योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-2, chapter-11, verse-21

सर्वस्यैव हिं सर्वस्य साधोर्रांपे विवेकिनः ।
निमित्तपूर्वं वैराग्यं जायते राम राजसम् ॥ २१ ॥
sarvasyaiva hiṃ sarvasya sādhorrāṃpe vivekinaḥ ,
nimittapūrvaṃ vairāgyaṃ jāyate rāma rājasam 21
21. sarvasya eva hi sarvasya sādhoḥ api vivekinaḥ
nimittapūrvam vairāgyam jāyate rāma rājasam
21. rāma sarvasya sarvasya api sādhoḥ vivekinaḥ
hi nimittapūrvam vairāgyam rājasam jāyate
21. O Rāma, for everyone, including even a wise and virtuous person, the detachment (vairāgya) that arises from a specific cause is indeed of the nature of rajas (rājasam).
