मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-4, verse-58

देवत्वेऽथ मनुष्यत्वे तिर्यग्योनौ च संस्थिता ।
गृह्णाति तत्स्वभावं च वासुदेवेच्छया सदा ॥५८॥
58. devatve'tha manuṣyatve tiryagyonau ca saṃsthitā .
gṛhṇāti tatsvabhāvaṃ ca vāsudevecchayā sadā.

gṛhṇāti tatsvabhāvaṃ ca vāsudeva icchayā sadā
58. Whether existing as a deity, a human, or an animal, it always assumes its particular intrinsic nature (svabhāva) by the will of Vāsudeva.
