आपो नारा इति प्रोक्ता मुनिभिस्तत्त्वदर्शिभिः ।
अयनं तस्य ताः पूर्वं तेन नारायणः स्मृतः ॥४३॥

Truth-perceiving sages declare the waters to be 'nārā'. Since these waters were formerly his abode, he is thus known as Nārāyaṇa.
