मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-18, verse-47

दत्तात्रेयस्ततो देवान् विहस्येदमथाब्रवीत् ।
दिष्ट्या वर्धथ दैत्यानामेषा लक्ष्मीः शिरोगता ।
सप्त सथानान्यतिक्रान्ता नवमन्यमुपैष्यति ॥४७॥
47. dattātreyastato devān vihasyedamathābravīt .
diṣṭyā vardhatha daityānāmeṣā lakṣmīḥ śirogatā .
sapta sathānānyatikrāntā navamanyamupaiṣyati.
47. Dattātreyaḥ tataḥ devān vihasya idam
atha abravīt diṣṭyā vardhatha daityānām
eṣā Lakṣmīḥ śiraḥ-gatā sapta sthānāni
atikrāntā navamam anyam upaiṣyati
47. Then Dattātreya, laughing, said this to the gods: "Fortunately, you (gods) are flourishing, for this Lakṣmī has gone to the heads of the Daityas! Having crossed seven places, she will now attain a ninth (new) one."
