महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-68, verse-42

यदा ह्यासीदतः पापान्दहत्युग्रेण तेजसा ।
मिथ्योपचरितो राजा तदा भवति पावकः ॥४२॥

42. When he (the king) burns away the misdeeds of those who approach him with fierce power, or when a king is wrongly treated, then he truly becomes a purifier (pāvaka), like fire.
