महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-224, verse-35

मनः सृष्टिं विकुरुते चोद्यमानं सिसृक्षया ।
आकाशं जायते तस्मात्तस्य शब्दो गुणो मतः ॥३५॥
35. manaḥ sṛṣṭiṁ vikurute codyamānaṁ sisṛkṣayā ,
ākāśaṁ jāyate tasmāttasya śabdo guṇo mataḥ.

ākāśam jāyate tasmāt tasya śabdaḥ guṇaḥ mataḥ
35. sisṛkṣayā codyamānam manaḥ sṛṣṭim vikurute

35. Impelled by the desire to create, the mind (manas) transforms itself into creation. From that [mind], space (ākāśa) is born; its quality (guṇa) is considered to be sound (śabda).
