महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-71, verse-51

ऋतस्य दातारमनुत्तमस्य निधिं निधीनां चतुरन्वयानाम् ।
ये नाद्रियन्ते गुरुमर्चनीयं पापाँल्लोकांस्ते व्रजन्त्यप्रतिष्ठान् ॥५१॥
51. ṛtasya dātāramanuttamasya; nidhiṁ nidhīnāṁ caturanvayānām ,
ye nādriyante gurumarcanīyaṁ; pāpāँllokāṁste vrajantyapratiṣṭhān.
51. ṛtasya dātāram anuttamasya nidhim
nidhīnām caturānvyānām ye na
ādriyante gurum arcanīyam pāpān
lokān te vrajanti apratiṣṭhān
51. Those who do not honor a worshipful Guru—who is the giver of unsurpassed truth and a treasure among the treasures of the four (Vedic) traditions—go to unsupported, sinful worlds.
