योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-5, chapter-24, verse-37

परं पौरुषमाश्रित्य भोगेष्वरतिमाहरेत् ।
न भोगेष्वरतिर्यावज्जायते भवनाशनी ॥ ३७ ॥
paraṃ pauruṣamāśritya bhogeṣvaratimāharet ,
na bhogeṣvaratiryāvajjāyate bhavanāśanī 37
37. param pauruṣam āśritya bhogeṣu aratim āharet /
na bhogeṣu aratiḥ yāvat jāyate bhavanāśanī //
37. param pauruṣam āśritya bhogeṣu aratim āharet /
bhogeṣu bhavanāśanī aratiḥ yāvat na jāyate //
37. One should cultivate disinterest in pleasures by resorting to supreme human effort (pauruṣa). For as long as disinterest in pleasures, which destroys the cycle of rebirth (saṃsāra), has not yet arisen, (one's effort is needed).
