मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-35, verse-43

भस्मास्थिचयनं कार्यं चतुर्थे गोत्रिकैर्दिने ।
उर्ध्वं संचयनात् तेषामङ्गस्पर्शो विधीयते ॥४३॥
43. bhasmāsthicayanaṃ kāryaṃ caturthe gotrikairdine .
urdhvaṃ saṃcayanāt teṣāmaṅgasparśo vidhīyate.
43. bhasmāsthicayanam kāryam caturthe gotrikaiḥ dine
ūrdhvam saṃcayanāt teṣām aṅgasparśaḥ vidhīyate
43. The collection of ashes and bones should be performed by the relatives (gotrikaiḥ) on the fourth day. After that collection (saṃcayana), physical contact with those (remains) is permitted.
