मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-35, verse-32

पञ्च पिण्डाननुधृत्य न स्त्रायात् परवारिणि ।
स्त्रायीत देवखातेषु गङ्गा-ह्रदृसरित्सु च ॥३२॥
32. pañca piṇḍānanudhṛtya na strāyāt paravāriṇi .
strāyīta devakhāteṣu gaṅgā-hradṛsaritsu ca.

32. One should not bathe in water belonging to others without first performing the five piṇḍa offerings. However, one may bathe in natural (divinely-dug) ponds, the Gaṅgā, lakes, and other rivers.
