मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-35, verse-19

अन्येषाञ्चैव तद्द्रव्यैर्वर्णगन्धापहारतः ।
शुचि गोतृप्तिकृत्तोयं प्रकृतिस्थं महीगतम् ॥१९॥
19. anyeṣāñcaiva taddravyairvarṇagandhāpahārataḥ .
śuci gotṛptikṛttoyaṃ prakṛtisthaṃ mahīgatam.
19. anyeṣām ca eva tat dravyaiḥ varṇagandhāpahārataḥ
śuci gotṛptikṛt toyam prakṛtistham mahīgatam
19. And for other objects, purification is achieved using their respective materials and by removing their color and smell. Water that is naturally present on earth and satisfies cows is considered pure.
