मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-35, verse-26

प्रभूतोपहतादन्नादग्रमुद्धृत्य सन्त्यजेत् ।
शेषस्य प्रोक्षणं कुर्यादाचम्यादिभस्तथा मृदा ॥२६॥
26. prabhūtopahatādannādagramuddhṛtya santyajet .
śeṣasya prokṣaṇaṃ kuryādācamyādibhastathā mṛdā.
26. prabhūtopahatāt annāt agram uddhṛtya santyajet
śeṣasya prokṣaṇam kuryāt ācamya ādibhiḥ tathā mṛdā
26. From food that has become significantly defiled, one should remove and discard the uppermost portion. For the remainder, one should perform the ritual sprinkling (with water), having first performed the ritual sipping of water (ācamana), and similarly purify it with earth and other (prescribed substances).
