महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-23, verse-24

अल्पावशिष्टे सैन्येऽस्मिन्सूतपुत्रे च पातिते ।
सपुत्रे वै नरव्याघ्रे नैवाशाम्यत वैशसम् ॥२४॥
24. alpāvaśiṣṭe sainye'sminsūtaputre ca pātite ,
saputre vai naravyāghre naivāśāmyata vaiśasam.

24. Even when this army had only a few remaining, and when the son of Suta (Karna), that tiger among men, had fallen along with his son, the slaughter (vaiśasam) did not indeed subside.
