महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-24, verse-22

वासांसि जीर्णानि यथा विहाय नवानि गृह्णाति नरोऽपराणि ।
तथा शरीराणि विहाय जीर्णान्यन्यानि संयाति नवानि देही ॥२२॥
22. vāsāṁsi jīrṇāni yathā vihāya; navāni gṛhṇāti naro'parāṇi ,
tathā śarīrāṇi vihāya jīrṇā;nyanyāni saṁyāti navāni dehī.
22. vāsāṃsi jīrṇāni yathā vihāya navāni gṛhṇāti naraḥ aparāṇi
| tathā śarīrāṇi vihāya jīrṇāni anyāni saṃyāti navāni dehī
22. yathā naraḥ jīrṇāni vāsāṃsi vihāya aparāṇi navāni gṛhṇāti,
tathā dehī jīrṇāni śarīrāṇi vihāya anyāni navāni saṃyāti.
22. Just as a man, casting off worn-out garments, takes on other new ones, so the embodied self (ātman), casting off worn-out bodies, obtains other new ones.
