महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-104, verse-28

तं विनाशं मनुष्येन्द्र नरवारणवाजिनाम् ।
नामृष्यत तदा भीष्मः सैन्यघातं रणे परैः ॥२८॥
28. taṁ vināśaṁ manuṣyendra naravāraṇavājinām ,
nāmṛṣyata tadā bhīṣmaḥ sainyaghātaṁ raṇe paraiḥ.
28. tam vināśam manuṣya-indra nara-vāraṇa-vājinām na
amr̥ṣyata tadā bhīṣmaḥ sainya-ghātam raṇe paraiḥ
28. manuṣyendra tadā bhīṣmaḥ raṇe paraiḥ nara-vāraṇa-vājinām
tam vināśam sainya-ghātam na amr̥ṣyata
28. O lord of men, Bhishma then did not tolerate that destruction of men, elephants, and horses – the slaughter of his army by the enemies in battle.
