महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-219, verse-54

वैक्लव्याच्च भयाच्चैव घोराणां चापि दर्शनात् ।
उन्माद्यति स तु क्षिप्रं सत्त्वं तस्य तु साधनम् ॥५४॥
54. vaiklavyācca bhayāccaiva ghorāṇāṁ cāpi darśanāt ,
unmādyati sa tu kṣipraṁ sattvaṁ tasya tu sādhanam.
54. vaiklavyāt ca bhayāt ca eva ghorāṇām ca api darśanāt
unmādyati saḥ tu kṣipram sattvam tasya tu sādhanam
54. One quickly goes mad from agitation, fear, and the sight of dreadful things. But mental steadfastness (sattva) is indeed his means (of overcoming it).
